Durand Jones and the Indications のドラマーであり、ヴォーカルも兼任する Aaron Frazer。1950年代の映画スターを彷彿とさせる佇まいを持つ彼は、現代的でありながら時代を問わない唯一無二の歌声を持っている。
ソロとしてのデビューアルバム Introducing... は、The Black Keys の Dan Auerbach がプロデュースを手掛け、Easy Eye Sound と Dead Oceans から共同リリースされた。1960年代半ばのソウルに Auerbach 独自の感性を融合させた Over You、Gil Scott-Heron のような社会的なメッセージを込めた Bad News、さらにはディスコやゴスペル、ドゥーワップを織り交ぜた Have Mercy など、多彩なジャンルが独自の解釈で詰め込まれている。
これまでの制作過程で見せてきた葛藤を乗り越え、今作では表現の幅と成熟した音楽性が示された。社会への鋭い視点を持ちつつも、愛に包まれたいという切実な願いを絶妙なバランスで描き出し、聴き手に希望を感じさせる。若き才能がソウル・ミュージックの王道を突き進んでいく、記念碑的な記録と言える。
ヴァイナル盤では、彼の持ち味である美しいファルセットの残響が、タイトなリズムセクションと重なり合い、奥行きのある音像を作り出している。針が溝をなぞることで生まれる微細な震えが、スタジオの空気感までを生々しく再現する。
