後にFatback Bandへと発展する系譜を持つ重要プロジェクトHarlem Underground Bandが残したレア・グルーヴ名曲。
1973年にPaul Winley Recordsからリリースされた“Smokin’ Cheeba-Cheeba”は、Ann Winleyのヴォーカルをフィーチャーしたファンク／ソウル楽曲で、後にUKのレア・グルーヴ・シーンで再評価され、コレクターやDJの間で定番となった楽曲。ゆったりとしたグルーヴと独特の空気感が特徴で、当時のニューヨーク・ファンクの魅力が色濃く表れている。
カップリングの“Dance Girl”はRimshots名義でもリリースされたアップテンポのブレイクで、鋭いリズムと抜けの良いドラムが印象的なトラック。そのグルーヴはThe RootsやLarge Professorなどにサンプリングされ、ヒップホップの制作史においても重要な位置を占める。
