Joe Claussellによるキャリア初期のプロジェクトInstant Houseのレア曲が7インチで登場！
1990年代ディープ・ハウスを象徴するJoe ClaussellによるプロジェクトInstant Houseによる重要作が、7インチ・フォーマットで登場。ニューヨーク・アンダーグラウンドの文脈で語られる存在で、当時から熱心な支持を集めてきた名義だ。
A面にはInstant Houseの初期作品を収めたコンピCD「1988 - 1993」に収録されていた“Hat Hat”を収録。パワフルなキック＆ベースとシンセのうねりが反復する、ディープ・ハウスの精神性を強く打ち出す内容となっている。アナログでは現在は入手困難とされる2011年のEPのみに収録だったため、見逃せない1曲だ。
B面の“Mellow Out”は、Instant Houseを代表するクラシック。1991年のレア12インチに収録されていたナンバーで、無駄を削ぎ落としたビートと幻想的で温度のあるコード進行が静かに広がり、初期90年代ディープ・ハウス特有のミニマルでしなやかなグルーヴを体現する。派手な展開に頼らず、じわりとフロアを包み込むタイプの一曲だ。
90年代初頭のアンダーグラウンド・ハウスの空気を今に伝える内容。限られたプレスでの7インチ仕様という点も含め、Instant Houseの歩みを語るうえで外せない一枚といえる。
