Kerri Chandlerが名門Downtown 161 Records期の楽曲を軸に構成した「Downtown EP Pt.2」をヴァイナルで発表。
ハウス・ミュージックの重鎮Kerri Chandlerによる「Downtown EP Pt.2」は、彼の古巣Downtown 161 Records時代のスピリットをあらためて提示する内容。90年代からニュージャージーのディープ・ハウスを牽引し続けてきた彼の真骨頂が詰まっている。
Downtown 161はNYのディストリビューター兼レーベル。 NYアンダーグランド・ハウス・シーンの重鎮Linda PerroneとJudy Russellが設立したレーベルだ。ちなみにKerri Chandlerの名作「The Other Thing For Linda」は彼女のこと。
本作収録曲のうち3曲は、Downtown 161 Recordsのカタログから選ばれた楽曲。Kerriのコミュニティの間で長く支持されてきたトラックで、ソウルフルなコード、太く跳ねるベースライン、身体に染み込むようなリズムが際立つ。スタジオエンジニアとしても高い評価を受ける彼らしい緻密なミックスと、温度を感じるグルーヴはそのままに、あらためてヴァイナルで提示される。さらに本作には、ここでしか聴けない未発表ヴァージョンを1曲収録。
