1994年にリリースされた『The Best Of New Order』が、2025年最新リマスター仕様で待望のアナログ再発。
前作ベスト盤『Substance』が、Joy Divisionから続くバンドの陰影や時代背景を色濃く映し出した作品だとすれば、本作はより開放的でポジティブなNew Orderを象徴する一枚。オープニングを飾る「True Faith」でのバーナード・サムナーの伸びやかな歌声からも、バンドが新たな方向性を確立したことを感じさせる。
収録曲には、不朽のクラシック「Blue Monday (’88 Remix)」、1990年FIFAワールドカップでイングランド公式応援歌として発表された「World In Motion」、Acid House全盛期の空気を色濃く反映した「Fine Time」、印象的なパンニングを用いたイントロが耳を引く「The Perfect Kiss」など、ベスト盤の名にふさわしい代表曲を多数収録。
New Order入門盤としてはもちろん、80年代後半から90年代初頭にかけてのダンスミュージックとロックが幸福な形で融合した瞬間を味わえる一枚。
ちなみに、私が初めて手にしたNew Orderのアルバムも本作でした。今でも彼らの作品の中で、特に思い入れの深い一枚です。(ushiro/ Tecchu Co.,Ltd.)

The band’s hugely successful second compilation released in 1994, The Best Of New Order features 7” mixes of the band’s classic hits from 1985 onwards, plus four new ‘94 mixes. The accompanying remix album The Rest Of New Order was released the following year in 1995 led by Blue Monday-95, a remix by Hardfloor. Both albums reached the top5 of UK albums charts and featured all the band’s iconic tracks including ‘True Faith’, ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’, ‘Blue Monday 88, ‘Regret’ and ‘World in Motion’
The new deluxe 4CD set combines the original albums with remastered audio, plus two additional CDs of rare vinyl only tracks and unreleased remixes.
Both albums will be released as separate vinyl albums with remastered audio cut at Abbey Road. The Rest Of New Order is now a 3LP set and compiles all 12 songs from the CD and original vinyl release for the first time.
