Description
The “danceable kayokyoku” that electrified the 1980s club scene is finally back
Long-awaited vinyl release featuring a previously unreleased secret mix
Produced by Haruo Chikada in 1989 with the catchphrase “House Music in Your Living Room,” “Fade Out” is an important work that gained support centered around Shibaura GOLD during the genesis of Japan’s club scene. The long-awaited 12-inch record featuring the 2026 remastered original version of “Fade Out” and secret remixes by a lineup of stellar artists including Haruo Chikada & OMB, Soichi Terada, and Hiroshi Fujiwara will be released by U/M/A/A in Fall 2026.
“Japanese Techno Kayokyoku,” which is currently being reevaluated among European diggers and experiencing a revival boom, can be considered to have “Fade Out” at its core. It will also be distributed in Europe through the prestigious club music label Rush Hour.
For the jacket design, Japan’s leading visual director, Aya Kono, known for her distinctive advertising and art direction, was appointed, making it a visually appealing vinyl record. This is a limited-edition, rare analog record that marks the valuable contributions of Kyoko Koizumi, also known as Kyon2, a Japanese cultural icon who continues to evolve today, to the Japanese underground scene.
■“Fade Out Remixes” Tracklist
A1: Fade Out
Mastered by Kentaro Kimura of KIMKEN STUDIO, who works with many renowned artists, the original song, which followed the conventions of kayokyoku, has been finished to highlight the basslines and rhythms designed for the dance floor, further blooming its appeal as house music.
A2: Fade Out (LUNASUN Remix by Haruo Chikada & OMB)
A version produced around 2023. It had been shelved due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it led to its announcement following a performance at “HAYAMAtic! 2025,” a party held at the Umino Hotel in Hayama, near the studio where the two regularly hold sessions, and seaside interactions with the U/M/A/A team, the party’s organizing label.
AA1: Fade Out (Soichi Terada Remix)
Soichi Terada captivated music fans around the world with a track that was revived and released about 10 years ago by the label “Rush Hour,” which enjoys immense support centered in Europe. This is a valuable unreleased version produced around 2017 at the request of LUNASUN by the Japanese house legend, who gains popularity at domestic and international festivals.
AA2: Fade Out (MOODY STRINGS MIX)
Hiroshi Fujiwara remixed this for the “Idemitsu Energy Station Koizumi Super Remix Contest,” a non-sale promotional CD born from a radio program project in 1990. This is a remix version that Antal, a globally popular DJ who also owns “Rush Hour” and headlined the final day of the “Rainbow Disco Club” held in April 2026, had long favored. It was included in this release through the connection of entrusting the overseas distribution of this work.
