フィリー・ディスコとジャズの架け橋として知られるドラマー／プロデューサー Norman Connors。その10作目『Take It To The Limit』（1980年）のタイトル曲が、Joaquin “Joe” Claussell の手で再構築された。オリジナルは、女性シンガー Adaritha の力強いヴォーカルと、洗練されたストリングス・アレンジが光るソウル・ディスコの名作。Joeはこの原曲を、Body & SOUL のフロアで幾度となく昇華させてきたように、ビートの粒を細かく刻み直し、リズムを狂おしいほどにループさせて再生した。
オリジナルの情熱的なフィリー・ソウルのグルーヴを保ちながら、そこにJoe特有のスピリチュアルな展開と、カオティックなピークタイムの緊張感を重ねた構築美。エディットというよりも、祈りと爆発が交錯する再発見の儀式のような一枚。
