Description
Kansai singer-songwriter Kyozo Nishioka, who has a close relationship with Haruomi Hosono, traveled to Mexico, Miami, the Bahamas, and New Orleans before recording his fourth solo album in LA (1977).
The performance is centered around Junji Yamagishi (guitar), Nagao Ishida (guitar) and other Sobat Revue members, as well as Robert Greenwich, a steel pan player known for his collaborations with Van Dyke Parks and Taj Mahal. Recordings include the romantic drunken blues "African Moon" along with "Pukapuka", the mellow strange song "Gypsy Song", and the blissful steel pan sound of "NEVER SONG". Haruomi Hosono's "Taian Yoko" and Makoto Kubota and the Yuyake Band's "Hawaii Champloo" are a masterpiece of exotica pop.
