Description
He was known as an unconventional figure in the 70's jazz and crossover scene, and since the 90's, NYC hip-hop artists, including Mos Def and Q-TIP, have looked up to him as a mentor and respected him. Legendary pianist/composer Weldon Irvine, revered like a god. This is his second solo album, and important songs from the rare 70's jazz monument "Time Capsule" are cut on a 10-inch disc!
An analog cut of the important songs of "Time Capsule", which is said to be Weldon's masterpiece, with a 10-inch EP! Side A includes ``Deja Vu'', the ultimate rare groove classic that was also covered by Nobukazu Takemura's project SPIRITUAL VIBES, in two versions: an original version and a short version. The electric piano with a tone that evokes the universe and the tricky solo playing synchronize perfectly with Weldon's philosophical and introspective lyrics and simple vocals. Although it is a rather outrageous song, the exquisite balance is a genius, and it is by far the most popular song among his works. In addition, this short version is edited to about 5 minutes, leaving vocals, electric piano solo, and drum break, giving it a more DJ-friendly finish. A special download code is included here. B1's "Feelin' Mellow" is a high-quality soul number co-written and performed with Johnny King of FATBACK BAND. It is a heart-warming song throughout, and is a masterpiece that reflects the gentle and loving feelings of Weldon, who wrote the lyrics, rather than his eccentric side. B2's "Watergate—Don't Bug Me!" is a freaky funk song that lasts over seven minutes, with Weldon playing the melodica like crazy, and the song gets more intense as the second half progresses. "Time Capsule" was active as Nina Simone's exclusive pianist from the late 1960s, and later rose to prominence in the NYC jazz scene, but due to his avant-garde creations, he was forced to borrow money and produce his own music. Although he has since released three masterpieces on major labels, the original world of this album, which is famous as the other side and a symbol of heresy, is reminiscent of the alternative and avant-garde music of the 70s like CAN and Velvet Underground. A one-and-only work that has a hidden danger that will make you feel bad. Among them, "Deja Vu", "Feelin' Mellow", and "Watergate—Don't Bug Me!", which caused him to re-evaluate him, are available in 10-inch versions!
