Long before the phrase "digging" was applied to buying records, a group of DJs, MCs, producers, graffiti artists and B-Boys from the West Country were searching for a different beat. Known locally as The Wild Bunch, their name was soon to go global as the soundsystem not to be messed with. They soon fused into Massive Attack and undoubtedly changed the face of modern music with their debut album "Blue Lines". Unlike other UK rap and soul of the time, they found their inspirations not in the ultimate breaks and beats of the day, but in the dusty crackles of jazz, funk, soul, reggae and world music. Here are a few that laid the blue prints for that seminal album.
