D.C. LaRueが1976年に発表したアルバム“Cathedrals”は、壮麗なストリングスとドラマティックな展開でディスコをアートの域へ押し上げた重要作。その楽曲群を、新たにリミックスしたのが本作“Ca-The-Drals - Transformation”。
The Reflexは、Stevie WonderやCerroneのエディットでも知られる現行ディスコ・エディター。オリジナルのマルチトラック素材をもとに、グルーヴを研ぎ澄まし、フロア仕様へと再構築。原曲の高揚感を保ちながら、キックとベースを前に出したダンスフロア志向の仕上がりになっている。
一方、Dafia Recordsを率いるMannixは、よりダビーなアプローチで再解釈。リヴァーブや空間処理を活かし、原曲の持つゴシック的なムードを強調する構成。ビートの輪郭を保ちつつ、奥行きを拡張するミックスが特徴だ。
