Description
From piano house pioneers to London radio icons and French live acts, key figures shaping today's dance floors come together to showcase the diverse facets of house music.
Four tracks that prove the prestige label's versatility, where soulful tradition meets high-tech energy and new-generation sensibilities.
Defected reigns supreme as the mecca of house music. While known for their feel-good sounds, this 'EP19' presents a more physical and edgy side.
Opening the EP is UK's Jansons, who have earned support at events such as CircoLoco. Welcoming Dope Earth Alien, who also stood out on Honey Dijon's work, they take control of the floor with 'Hypnotic,' which layers rap over old-school breakbeats. Next, LP Giobbi is a highly skilled artist with a classical background, known as the 'Queen of Piano House.' With 'Giodisco,' where her signature free-spirited melodies intersect with powerful drums, she modernizes the pleasure of disco.
On Side B, the label's flagship artist and long-time radio host Sam Divine appears. Centered around the soulful voice of Josh Barry, they deliver the driving deep house of 'Take My Hand.' Finally, the French trio Oden & Fatzo, known for mastering modular synths and producing live-feeling tracks, collaborate with Camden Cox. The EP closes with 'Lady Love,' where ethereal vocals blend with a light groove. A record that lets you experience the cutting edge of house music, both hard and soft.

Though mostly known for their colourful and soul-drenched house, Defected can also do more physical and tech-leaning sounds as exemplified on this new EP. It features a mix of new school tastemakers with Jansons opening up with the old school breaks and bars of 'Hypnotic' (feat Dope Earth Alien) then American star LP Giobbi layers up the freewheeling melodies and punchy drum loops on 'Giodisco.' Sam Divine gets for a deep and driving house sound on 'Take My Hand' (feat Josh Barry) and Oden & Fatzo X Camden Cox close things out with a more light and airy vocal sound on 'Lady Love.' Some useful variation here.
