ミシシッピ州ジャクソンの音楽シーンにおいて、数々のヘヴィな楽曲を裏方として支えてきた重要人物、Don Thigpen。親友のSam Andersonと共にCJR（Capitol Jackson Records）から放った「Shirley Baby」など、熱心なコレクターの間で切望される盤を世に送り出してきた彼が、自らの星座を冠したアーティスト名「Leo」として表舞台に立った記念すべき初録音作だ。
本作『Fee Fi Fo Fum』は、80年代を席巻したコンピューター・ブームに触発された、エレクトロ色の濃いファンク・トラック。Zapp & Rogerの名曲「Computer Love」にも通じる、「無機質なマシーンへの憧憬とロマンス」がテーマとなっている。コンピューターが人間の女性に恋をし、モニター越しに「Fee Fi Fo Fum」と誘惑の言葉を点滅させて語りかけるという、ユニークで官能的なストーリーが展開される。
サウンドの核となるのは、スタジオワークを知り尽くしたDonならではの計算し尽くされた電子音。重厚なビートとエレクトロな質感が混ざり合い、当時の最先端だったテクノロジーへの情熱が音の端々から溢れ出している。
ハンドメイドのリゾグラフ（孔版印刷）で仕上げられたスリーブは、一点ごとに異なる手仕事の温もりが宿り、工業製品とは一線を画す佇まいを見せる。世界限定450枚という希少性も相まって、一度針を落とせば、当時のジャクソン周辺のスタジオに漂っていた熱気と、実験的なサウンドの虜になるはずだ。

This was Don Thigpen's first recording as an artist, but he was no stranger to the studio. In fact he was the individual behind many heavy tunes that came out of the Jackson area. He and good friend Sam Anderson also cut a record on his CJR labelb (Capitol Jackson Records) called "Shirley Baby", also a highly coveted record if you got a copy to sell or record let us know).
The name "LEO" became Dons performing pseudonym. Leo was also his zodiac sign, which he deemed edgy enough to marquee this electro heavy track "Fee Fi Fo Fum". The inspiration for the song came from the computer craze of the 80s. Much like Zapp & Roger's track "Computer Love" an inanimate object is worshipped and then romanticized by a love affair. The song literally depicts a computer falling in love with a woman and attempts to communicate with her by seductively flashing the words "Fee Fi Fo Fum" on the screen.
