While Berlin-based, the Mister Bear label has frequently chosen to platform such US deep house greats as Alton Miller and Vick Lavender. Here, to launch the label's new 'Limited Cuts' series, they flip the script by platforming fast-rising South African artist Reagan Ruler. He starts in seductively soulful fashion, combining r&b style female lead vocals with warming, quietly colourful deep house ('You Will Rise'), before doffing a cap to Charles Webster and Atjazz on the similarly soul-fired and sensual 'Til The Cops Come Knocking'. He reaches for a (sampled) male lead vocal on the Rhodes-fired dustiness of 'I Think I Love You', while 'Whatever It Takes' is a timeless chunk of piano-rich soulfuness.
