イタリアのGroovin Recordingsが手掛ける「Deep House Gems」第2弾は、Strictly Rhythmが輝いていた90年代の空気をそのまま封じ込めた3トラックを収録。
A面のRoger S「Get Hi」は、70年代ファンクの象徴Brass Construction「Movin’」をサンプリングし、緊張感と高揚を同時に呼び込むグルーヴで知られる名作。Roger SanchezがまだNY地下クラブを熱狂させていた頃の勢いが刻まれている。
B面には、Satoshi Tomiieがこのプロジェクトのためだけに名義を変えたLoop 7による「The Theme」を収録。抑制されたリズムと滑らかなコードが重なり、深い空間を描くディープ・ハウスの逸品だ。続く「Waterfalls」はAndrew RichardsonとRoger Sanchezが手を組み、緩やかなビートの中に透明感のあるメロディを漂わせた、夜明け前のフロアを思わせるトラック。
90年代前半のディープ・ハウスが持つ豊潤な空気を一枚に閉じ込めたこのヴァイナルは、当時のシーンを知る者にも、現在のリスナーにも鮮烈な響きを与える。

The second chapter from Groovin "Deep House Gems" features three incredible tunes directly from the golden era of Strictly Rhythm. In the same vinyl you find here Roger Sanchez and Satoshi Tomiie probably in their best production times. Roger S "Get Hi" is famous for sampling the iconic "Movin" by legendary 70's band Brass Construction. On the flip you find two real masterpiece of 90's deep-house, "The Theme" by Loop 7 which is a moniker used by Satoshi Tomiie only for this project, and "Waterfalls" produced by Andrew Richardson and Roger Sanchez.
