Description

Slam, the Scottish duo who have been at the forefront of the techno scene since the early 1990s and have supported global club culture through their own label, Soma, present the final chapter of the "Archive Edit" series, reconstructing EBM and techno tracks they have played throughout their long DJ careers.

Slam is a producer/DJ duo consisting of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle. Active since the early 1990s, they run the Glasgow-based label Soma. They are also known for releasing early works by Daft Punk, who later achieved worldwide success, and have played an important role in the history of techno. The core of this album is their vast record collection and club experience built up over many years of DJing.

『Archive Edits Vol. 3』is the final installment in a series compiling edits they have produced for use in their DJ sets. It reconstructs tracks that have functioned in clubs for a long time, including EBM and hard techno, and prepares them for the dance floor.

The tracklist includes songs by Nitzer Ebb, a leading act in the EBM scene, as well as the project Silent Breed by German producer Thomas P Heckmann, DK8, known in the context of Detroit techno and electro, and works by Damon Wild and Terrence Fixmer. Each edit is reconstructed for the dance floor from Slam's DJ perspective while preserving the characteristics of the original tracks.

Furthermore, Slam's own unreleased material is incorporated, developing a sound where the mechanical rhythms of EBM and the driving force of techno intersect. It is a highly functional techno track collection that reflects the sensibilities honed in clubs over many years. A vinyl release in the Soma catalog that connects the history and present of techno.

Slam rework Nitzer Ebb, Silent Breed, DK8, Terrence Fixmer and more for the final installment of their Archive Edit series.

Soma label heads Slam curate a specially designed package of tracks to finalize their Archive Edit project that sees them delve deep into Techno's past to bring some of the genre's best tracks into the modern age. The Archive Edit project started as a way for Slam to showcase and share the many different edits that had made their way into their DJ sets over the last few years. The pairing of Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle have both raided their extensive collections, picking out tracks that have defined countless sets over their career. Tracks from luminaries such as Nitzer Ebb, Thomas P Heckmann (as Silent Breed), Damon Wild & Terrence Fixmer have been re-edited alongside some of Slam's own unreleased material, showcasing the duo's current sound; one that naturally evolves, matures and demonstrates why the duo have been at the forefront of the global scene since its inception.
