UKのファンク／ロック・バンドUPPが1975年に残した“Give It To You”を軸にしたSide A。ドラムのJimmy Copleyが叩くブレイクはEric B. & Rakim、Gang Starr、DJ Shadowらが愛用してきた定番ネタ。そのタフな質感を崩さず、グルーヴの芯だけを前に押し出したエディットがかなり強力。Jeff Beckがプロデュースした原曲の、ファンクとロックとフュージョンが混ざった独特の重心の低さがより鮮明になり、DJがハットやスクラッチ、ヴォーカルを差し込んでも余裕のあるスペースが保たれている。
裏面の“Faded Lady”はS.S.O. Orchestraが1977年に残したソウル名曲。ストリングス、パッド、ベース、ヴォーカルが重なり合う映像的な空気感はそのままに、ホーンやコードの美味しい部分を丁寧に際立たせたエディット。Diamond D、Busta Rhymes、Nasらがサンプルとして扱ってきた理由がわかる濃いムードで、ブレイク使いというより“雰囲気そのもの”をミックスに溶かし込むタイプ。

Already sacred in sample lore, its breakbeat (written by drummer Jimmy Copley) has fueled Eric B. & Rakim, Gang Starr, Jeru, Del, DJ Shadow & more. This edit amplifies the raw pocket — drums, fills, transitions — pushing them forward w/o losing grit. Produced by Jeff Beck, UPP’s LP fused funk, fusion & rock, giving the break shimmer & weight beyond pure drum programming.
